What Is Gobble?

Gobble is an interesting arcade game built around a simple eating mechanic. You must control a giant hole and move it across a desert filled with objects.

This game was developed by Martin Magni, who is also the creator of Dash Kit 3. In this game, your goal is to consume everything in the environment except for people. The unusual objective gives the game its personality. In many arcade games, you might need to collect everything you see. In Gobble, doing that would cause you to lose because people are the one thing you must avoid. This creates an interesting contrast between movement and restraint. You are constantly looking for objects to consume, but you also need to make sure that your path does not accidentally swallow a person. The game contains 60 challenging levels, and each stage can introduce a different variation on the basic concept. Some levels focus on positioning, while others require you to grow the hole before you can clear larger objects.

Your goals in Gobble

Control the Hole

The controls are extremely straightforward. You simply hold the left mouse button to control the hole. There are no complicated combinations to memorize. Once you understand how to move the hole, the focus shifts entirely toward strategy and level awareness. The simple control scheme is one reason the game is easy to pick up. However, easy controls do not necessarily mean easy gameplay. As the levels become more complicated, you need to control the hole carefully. A small movement in the wrong direction can cause you to consume a person, immediately ending the attempt. Because the hole itself is your character, positioning becomes the most important part of your control.

Consume everything

The objective can be summarized in one sentence: consume everything in the desert except for people. You can eat stones, cacti, boxes, and other permitted objects. Each item you consume contributes to clearing the level and, depending on the situation, can also help your hole become larger. People are different. You are allergic to them, so consuming one results in a loss. This creates a constant need to distinguish between safe and dangerous targets. If people are standing near the objects you want to consume, you need to plan your movement so that the hole reaches the objects without touching them.

How to control: Hold the left mouse if you want to guide a hole to move around.

60 Levels in Gobble

Like Temple of Boom, this game also features many levels. Each stage has its own characteristics, and the game expects you to adapt. Some levels make people more active. Others change the size of the hole or require you to consume objects in a particular situation. The level names include examples such as Free Lunch, Nobody, Big Meal, Carry On, Yank, Castle Wall, Preacher, Tallest Tower, In Order, Cube, and Open Wide. These names reflect the variety found throughout the game, with different stages asking you to approach the basic eating mechanic in different ways.

Levels With Chasing People

One of the more interesting situations occurs when people actively chase the hole. Normally, you might think that moving away from people would make the level easier. However, when people follow you, they can create additional complications. You may be trying to consume an object while simultaneously avoiding a person who is moving toward you. This turns movement into a timing challenge. You need to think about where the people are going rather than only where they are currently standing. A safe area can become dangerous if someone starts moving toward it. In these stages, keeping the hole moving carefully can be more effective than rushing toward the nearest group of objects.

Levels With a Tiny Hole

Other Gobble levels begin with a very small hole. This changes the normal rhythm because you cannot immediately consume larger objects. Instead, you first need to eat smaller objects to increase the size of the hole. The key is to identify which objects can be consumed safely at your current size. As the hole grows, your options increase. Larger objects become available, allowing you to clear more of the environment and continue progressing. This mechanic creates a natural sense of development within a single level. You begin with limited capabilities and gradually become powerful enough to consume larger targets.

Smart Strategies for Gobble

Although Gobble has simple mechanics, the later stages can require careful planning. Your biggest mistake would be treating every level exactly the same. The environment, object placement, hole size, and movement of people can all affect the best approach.

Plan Your Route Before Moving

Before immediately holding the mouse button and moving around, take a moment to examine the level. Look at where the people are located and identify the objects you need to consume. If several valuable objects are positioned close to people, you need to think about how you can approach them without creating a collision. Planning is particularly useful on smaller or more crowded maps. You should also consider whether consuming one object will open a safer route toward another. Sometimes the most efficient path is not the shortest distance between two objects. It may be the route that gives you the most control over the surrounding space.

Grow the Hole Gradually

When you start a level with a small hole, do not immediately focus on the largest objects. Instead, search for smaller objects that are easy to consume and unlikely to put you near people. As the hole grows, you can gradually move on to larger targets. This approach reduces unnecessary risks and gives you more control over your progress. A larger hole can consume more objects, but size alone does not guarantee success. You still need to avoid people, so growing too quickly without considering your surroundings can create problems.

Keep Your Distance From People

The most important Gobble tip is also the simplest: stay away from people. It is easy to become focused on an object and forget that a person is nearby. Since consuming even one person causes you to lose, you should always check your surroundings before making a movement. This becomes even more important when people are moving. If a person is approaching the area where you want to eat, wait for a safer opportunity or choose another route. There is no benefit in rushing into a dangerous position when another option is available.
